Kari Masjid @Mambra-Mattathur
Kari
Family Masjid is located at Mambra-MATTATHUR - MUNAMBATH,.
It was built at least 300 years ago.
Referring
to the history of the Mosque,one of the six martyrs of Cheroor -freedom- Struggle (occurred in
1849 against the British) had set out for the ‘challenge’ after
performing his Subuh (morning) prayers in the Kari Masjid. Every
year the anniversary of this event has been observed in this mosque .
Over the past,once,it was well known as a great center for Islamic teachings .
Many
Great Schlaors like O.K zainudheen Kutty Musliyar had been running
Islamic classes here .
Kari Masjid has been kept in its original shape to remark its history and to protect its heritage as a monument.
.Now
the caretakers of the masjid -who are from Kari Family -are in efforts to
do a major renovation for the masjid as soon as possible.
