Earning wealth and livelihood through right ways

Purity of hand is the one of the great signs of a noble man.

Man gets great honour and strength through earning good wealth but it must be through good means. By nature, everybody has the right to earn and to spend in the desirable ways.

In another sense, earning livelihood is obligatory for each responsible person and it is prohibited for him to mishandle his own possessions for pride or any other bad interest.

Thus, everyone should be independent of others, trying his best to get enough provision or food for him and for those who are under his care.

Allah the Almighty says "O You who have believed, eat from the good things which we have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah if it is indeed him that you worship" (2: 172).

In another verse from Qur’an, Allah has ordered the humankind to walk among the pathways of the earth and eat of His provisions. “ He it is, Who has made the earth submissive to you (i.e. easy for you to walk, to lie and to do agriculture on it, etc..), So walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision, and to Him will be the Resurrection” (67:15)

After commanding to attend the Friday Prayers, Allah commands to the believers “Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salat (prayer) is finished, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working, etc.), and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.(62:10)

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be up on him) also emphasized the importance of works and good earnings as he has said: "Never has anyone eaten a better food that what he has obtained through his manual work"

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had been doing trade for a period and he proved his honesty since from his small age. He blocked himself and his family members from taking charities.

Another Prophet for Allah Dawood (A), never ate except from his own earnings. He was very famous for his expertise in Metal-Works. I

It is reported about another prophet of Allah, Isa (A) that he asked a man whom he met one day:
"What do you do?" He replied: "I am always in worship and prayers”

Then the prophet Isa (A) said: "Then Who is getting food for you?” he said: "My brother”.

The prophet asked him again: "Where is your brother now?”

He answered: "In the field”.

Then the prophet Isa (A) explained: "Your brother is more of a worshipper to Allah than you".

Once, prophet Muhammad(SAW) was travelling along with some of his companions as they passed by a man who was working in a field as someone from the group commanded, if the man spent the time for working for the cause of Allah(religious duties), it was better for him.

Then the prophet (SAW) corrected him saying ‘What the man was doing also is much greater ’.
Begging is not allowed except in some exceptional cases.

 It is highly discouraged by the prophet (SAW) as he says;
“Allah doesn't like to see his servant asking anybody except Him, and the person who does so, will be presented in front of Allah on the Day of Resurrection with the signs of begging on his face which will cause humiliation to him”

Khalifa Abubakr® was a great businessman known for his good wealth. But he always made sure that all of his income was from lawful ways and always consumed the lawful.

Khalifa Umar® was very strict about the matter as he used to warn those who sit inactive in the mosque without going for work saying to them “do not be a burden on the people”.

He also lived with some trades.

He said "I would not prefer to die in a situation better than a situation where I am buying for my family or trading".

Luqman, the Man of wisdom( who is mentioned in the holy Qur’an with a special chapter for his great advices to his son) is reported as said to his son in an advice :

"O ,my Son ,work and earn through right ways and avoid poverty . No one becomes poor but he will get weak in his mind, and will lose his manhood and will be humiliated by the people ".

But the wealth or earning should be pure and legitimate.

Wealth producer must fulfil his contracts and must abstain from cheating, lying and similar acts. Because, earnings and possessions have deep effects on the individual and the community.

When the wrong means are selected to make wealth, financial crisis will take place which will cause even for the collapse of the whole society.

 The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) says:

"Four things if you have them, then do not be worried about what you lose out in this life. Observance of the trust, truthfulness, good manners, and chastity and purity in what you eat". (Ahmad)

'Ibadurrahman’ = Real Servants of Allah - Lesson from Surah Al-Furqan

Who are the most beloved slaves of Allah ? Who are the most righteous people in front of Allah. Here we share some verses from The Holy Qur’an -Surah Furqan. (Chapter 25:63-76).

Allah the Almighty says: “ And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humbleness”

“And when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness”

“And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrating and standing (in prayers)”

“ And those who say: "Our Lord! Turn away from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment."

“ Evil indeed it (Hell) is as an abode and as a place to dwell” “ And those, who, when they spend, are neither spendthrift nor stingy, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes)”

“And those who invoke not any other god along with Allah “
“ Nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause”
“ Nor commit illegal sexual intercourse “
“And whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace”
“Except those who repent and believe, and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will transform their sins into good deeds”
“ And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, and then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance”
“And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity”
“And those who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind on them” “And those who say:
"Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our children who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the pious men”
“They will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience.”

“Therein they shall be met with good wishes and the word of peace and respect. Abiding therein; excellent it is as an dwelling, and as a place to stay”

In the above verses ,not only the significance for the prayers and fear of the Almighty Allah is emphasised, but also the value of good manners in forming a model community , status of the chastity in our lives, necessity of standardising our expenses, need of care for our families and children and most importantly the greatness of humbleness and politeness are highlighted.

Please repent to Allah With Sincere Repentance توبوا إلى الله توبة نصوحا

How to make Tauba? (Repentance/asking forgiveness from Allah from our sins)

Allah says in surah Tahreem:

ياأيها الذين آمنوا توبوا إلى الله توبة نصوحا عسى ربكم أن يكفر عنكم سيئاتكم ويدخلكم جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار----الخ

O, you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow [on] the Day when Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will proceed before them and on their right; they will say, "Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, you are over all things capable."

Always we have to keep our Hope in the forgiveness of Allah (swt) –and we don’t despair because of our sins.

 As Human beings it is natural for all except the prophets to make sins;

Nabiyyuna (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) says:

 "كُلُّكم خَطَّاءٌ وَخَيْرُ الخطاءين التَّوَّابُونَ"

‘You all do wrong, the best among the wrong doers are those who repent.’

For Example,

Someone who is used to leave his prayers for long years---
He has the chance to return to Allah and to become a good Muslim even he realizes it too late…

Someone who is used to take alcohol for long, ---
When he repents sincerely Allah will accept him and his tauba…

Rasul (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) says:

التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له

‘The one who repents is like the one who has no any sin’…..

All sins except ‘SHIRK’ could be forgiven.insya Allah.
--------

Please remember, Allah is very closer to you and always he is watching you.

Imagine you are caught doing the sin on CCTV and you are confronted – what would you do?

You would apologise immediately –

Similarly have that sense of asking forgiveness from Allah. Nothing is hidden from Allah…whatever we say or do it is recorded…

So, whenever we make sins please immediately talk to Allah and seek forgiveness no matter what sin we commit!!

Allah’s Mercy is bigger than our Sins,

So, in any case, how much sins we have done, we cannot lose hope in Mercy of Allah.

 Allah says in Surah ‘Zumar’

قل يعبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله-
ان الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا-انه هو الغفور الرحيم

"Say: O ` (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah:

Verily, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful". (39:53)

Abu Hurairah (r) reports: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said,

"Allah has divided mercy into one hundred parts; and He retained with Him ninety-nine parts, and sent down to earth one part. Through this one part creatures deal with one another with compassion [Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (r) also I heard Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) saying, Allah has written سبقت رحمتي غضبي and Muslim].

Now we can look How to repent? How to make Tauba?

Please return fully from your sins,
Realize the seriousness of sins,
Regret deeply on what happened,
-and Promise to Allah not to repeat the sins. –

And if you have any rights or debts with your fellow brothers please clear it.

This is called Tauba.

Very simple but should be sincere.

Then additionally,

It is recommended that we follow some goods after.

E.g.:  Pray two raka-at Sunnah ,Do some Dhikr, recite some verses from Holy Quran and Do some other deeds like giving charities…

we can seek forgiveness from Allah by any form, in any language. -And it is good to add some supplications from Quran and Sunnah.

Eg.استغفر الله- - سيد الاستغفار

Please remember that we cannot make fun of Allah!!
Every time we make Tauba and then break it simply. And continue to do sins after making Tauba!!

But, if it happens unfortunately again and again and we feel really sad on that. Still our Tauba could be acceptable- insya Allah.

Allah says in suah –Alu Imran.

والذين إذا فعلوا فاحشة أو ظلموا أنفسهم ذكروا الله فاستغفروا لذنوبهم ومن يغفر الذنوب الا الله ولم يصروا على ما فعلوا وهم يعلمون

And those who when they have committed  great sins as illegal sexual intercourse  or wronged themselves with evil ,remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins .And none can forgive sins but Allah-

And do not continue in what (wrong) they have done, while they know.

After making Tauba please resolve to not commit the sin again - find ways to avoid the sin.

So we must guard against shaitan with salat and dhikr to gain taqwa –

Thus we can change our selves for a better life…insya Allah

Follow up with Good Deeds:

Imam Tabrani reports:

One man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said:

“What do you make of a man who did every single sin and did not leave any sin whatsoever, and he did not leave any desire — big or small — except that he fulfilled it.
So is there any repentance for him?”

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “So did you accept Islam?”

He said: “As for me, I testify that Allah is only one God and he has no partners — and you are the messenger of Allah.

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

“Then if you, do good deeds and leave your sins, Allah will turn all your sins into good deeds.”

He said: “Even my betrayals and my immorality?”

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Yes”.

Hearing this the man announced: “Allahu Akbar!” and he continued saying it until he left.

Good Company:

It is also very essential that we keep us in the company of friends who will encourage you to do well,

Allah says in Surah Taubah,

يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله وكونوا مع الصادقين ‘O you who believe, Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).

Prophet swallallahu alaihi wasallam explains for us the Story of a man who killed 100 people,

He did sincere Tauba, and in few minutes passed away. Even though, Allah sent him to Jannah-
Yes, only one A’mal –Good Deed- he did;

Yes; Just he made his repentance in front of Allah and (on suggestion of the scholar on whose hands he made his Tauba) he left is old company of friends who persuaded him to do sins and went to stay in another town where there are much pious people to help him for good things ..On the Middle of the way, he passed away. There was dispute among Angeles regarding his soul. To the paradise or to Hell. Allah ordered them to take the measurement of his way to the new place.

Eventually, Allah placed him in Jannah as he was found closer to the new town, even only by an Inch! [Al-Bukhaari: 3470 ; Muslim: 2766].

Nabi (saw) likened good company to sitting with a person selling perfume. The scent will come to you and give pleasure even if you do not personally apply it to yourself.

In the same way, the keeping of bad company has been likened to someone sitting near the oven of an ironsmith, he cannot escape from the smoke and fumes even if he is away from the sparks (Bukhari).

So, Let us do sincere touba to Allah subhanahu ta-a’la as soon as possible.Insya Allah. He is ready to accept us.

May Allah grant us Tuafiq …Aameen

Oh, the noblest of all creations, I don’t have anybody (on the day of judgement) to approach for help (shafa-a’)

Walan yadheeqa rasulallahi jaahuka bihi
(At the time of horror on the day of judgement) when Allah the most generous will be characterized with the name of ‘revenger’
And O, the Messenger of Allah, my case will not be a big thing in front of your big status. (because your status is powerful to make intercession for all the sinners among the believers)

وَمِنْ عُلُومِكَ عِلْمَ اللَّوْحِ وَالْقَلَمِ
Wa min ‘uluomika ‘ilmallauhi walqalami

surely this world and the next world are from  your benevolence (This world never existed without you and in the next world you are the saviour of all by your shafa-a’)

Nb:- In a hadith which is reported by Umar bin Al-Khattab (R) - on the subject of acceptance of the repentance from Adam (‘Alaihissalam) - when Adam (‘Alaihissalam) asked Allah forgiveness for him by the status of the prophet (), Allah (SWT) pardoned him and said to him: If It were not for Muhammad (), I would not have created you (Hakim & Baihaqi)
