Importance of Unity and Mutual Respect for Building A Better Muslim Community

Respect each other

We have to respect each other;whole humanity –

(Verily We have honoured the humankind).

We do not hate any body. But we wish good only for all.

Allah says:
Say good only to the people

Allah says to Humankind;
O mankind, indeed ,We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted Allah says:

In another verse-

And say to My servants (O’ Muhammad) that they speak only that which is most excellent.

Qur’an about the need of unity of  the Community:
1-

Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord: therefore worship Me (and no other). (surah Anbiya :92)
Allah (SWT) makes it clear in Noble Qur'an that unity of the Muslim Ummah is very important.

2-
Allah (SWT) tells us not to be divided and to hold tightly to the teachings of Noble Qur'an and the example of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

 "
And hold fast, All of you together, to the rope of Allah, and do not become disunited "(Al-i Imran 3:103)

3-
And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere:

4-Allah says:

...
And help one another unto righteousness and pious duty, but help not one another unto sin and transgression... (Al-Maidah 5:2)

Prophet () says about the unity :

The prophet () commanded us to be united, and condemned from be divided.

Prophet () said, "Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales. Do not look for other's faults.

Do not spy one another. Do not be jealous of one another and do not nurse enmity against one another. Do not sever ties with one another. Become the slaves of Allah, and be brothers to one another as he commanded.

A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He should neither oppress him nor humiliate him.

The piety is here! The piety is here!"
While saying so he pointed towards his chest.

"It is enough evil for a Muslim to look down upon his Muslim brother. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in Faith: his blood, his wealth and his honour. Verily, Allah does not look to your bodies nor to your faces but He looks to your hearts and your deeds."
[Muslim].

Prophet () also says:

Surely the believers – in relation to the mercy and compassion and affection (that they show for one another) - are the same as one body.

Therefore, if one part of the body is feeling pain, then it complains about this pain to the other parts of the body through a fear and hurt
(so that the body can help the hurt or injured part).

Our  Hearts are corrupted ?

If we look at the global picture as a whole, we find that the number of Muslims has grown steadily to more than a billion today.

Muslims possess the richest resources of the world and the most fertile lands of the earth.

Coming to the religious level, we find that the number of mosques is growing everywhere.

The number of Muslims going to mosques is also increasing.

The number of Muslim organizations has been growing steadily.

Whenever some differences arise among Muslims in one organization, they create another one and build another mosque.

Despite of all these efforts ummah is struggling. Because, No brotherhood. Because Hearts are corrupted. Moreover Egos dominates over Taqwa

Allama Iqbal about  Unity:

Allama Muhammad Iqbal (1877 –1938) was the most famous Urdu poet of the whole time, and great philosopher, the most accomplished thinker and reformer of the modern Muslim world, who always emphasized On the good relationship among different sects of Muslim society.

He says;

Manf-e-at ek hai is qaum ki nuqsaan bhi ek
ek hi sab ka nabi deen bhi iman bhi ek
harame paak bhi Allah bhi Quran bhi ek
kuchh bari baat thi hote jo Musalman bhi ek«

"There is one common gain and one common loss for all Muslims.
One Prophet () for all and one Iman for all. One Ka’aba, one Allah and one Qur’an for all.

How great it would be if Muslims also were one?’’

He says also:

Yehi maqsood e fitrat, yehi ramz e musalmani
Ukhuwat ki jahangiri, mohabat ki farawani
This is the destiny of nature; this is the secret of Islam— World‐wide brotherhood, an abundance of love

Allah (swt) commands us how to deal in social life :

“O you who believe!  Avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicions are sins.  And spy not, neither backbite one another.  Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?  You would hate it (so hate backbiting).  And fear God.  Verily, God is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.” (Quran 49:12)

See who is a real Muslim?

=Prophet () says:

The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe, and the believer is the one people trust with their lives and wealth.”(An-Nasa’i)

Believers are Brothers and Sisters:

For the first time in history, a community of people that numbered hundreds of millions was brought together as brothers of one another and the following sentence was made their slogan and motto:

إِنَّمٌا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ...

Without doubt the believers are brothers of one another…
Quran says:

Allah says in Quran surah Hujurat: 49:10

Without doubt the believers are brothers of one another so then make peace and harmony between your brothers and have consciousness of Allah so that maybe He will show you mercy.

Qur’an invites here humanity to unite and come together under the principles of love and affection and thus, has referred to the faithful believers of a society as being brothers (and sisters) of one another.
And also emphasizes on the concern that Muslims should have for solving internal disputes.

Manners in social life

Seeing as to how the previous verse stated that Muslims are brothers of one another, in the verse and the one that follows, some of the principles of manners are elucidated upon, which in reality are the effects of brotherhood in Islam.

O’ you who have true faith! Do not let men make fun of other men – perhaps they may be better than the other (group of men).

Also, do not let women make fun of other women, as it may be that they are better than the other (group of) women.

Do not find faults in yourselves and do not defame one another by using bad names.
How bad it is after having true faith that a person (does these acts) but does not turn in repentance (to Allah) so then surely it is these people who are the oppressors.”(49:18)

Please remember our great past:

Under the greatness of this Islamic brotherhood, the Muslims were victorious over all of their difficulties and as long as this religious bond of love and affinity was amongst them, they had supremacy over the entire world.

Muslims should understand that unity is what will make us move forward in this world as well hereafter.

Remember the era when the Muslims were united and held on to Allah's rope tightly,
the Islamic empire spread from the east to west and Allah (SWT) blessed them with wealth, fame, victory and honour.

For a glorious future:

We need to be united now more than ever before.
We have to think about what we will and we can do to make our lives in this world
and
the hereafter better and blessed.

Five time congregational prayers, Friday prayer, Ied prayers and Hajj all are giving lessons of Islamic unity and brotherhood.

In his last speech Prophet () had advised his Ummah ‘do not fight after me’

Conclusion:

we wish good for all. We will advise each other to build a great Society.
w‘ Religion of Islam  is  to give sincere advice’)Hadith)

You are the best nation raised up for men: you enjoin good and forbid evil and you believe in Allah(Alu Imran-110)

Please Read 10 swalawat in morning and evening

“Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet; O People who believe! Send blessings and abundant salutations upon him.” (Surah al Ahzab, 56)

Abu al-Darda relates that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,
“Whoever sends blessings on me ten times in the morning and ten in the evening will have my intercession on judgement day.” [Tabarani]

Rahmatun Lil Aa’lameen-Our Prophet (swallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

The Prophet Muhammad is presented in the Qur’an in these words

[And We have not sent you forth but as a mercy to mankind.] (Al-Anbiyaa’: 107)

His most distinguishing quality, was that he was a mercy and blessing to all.

He loved all. All creations of the Almighty Allah.

Not only believers, but all humans and animals, birds, nature...

-Rasulullah (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) loved us very much. Always he made Dua for us.

Rasulullah SAW wept tears always for his Ummah especially during his night prayers,

He had so great care for us,

Once he said "I am very eager to see my ‘Brothers’.

His companions wondered: Messenger of Allah, Are we not your Brothers?

He replied: You are my companions. My Brothers are those who will be coming after whom I have not seen...
Allah says:

‘Certainly there has come to you a messenger from among yourselves, heavy upon him is your misery; eagerly desirous of your well-being, to believers is most Compassionate and Merciful.’ (Surah Taubah, Verse 128).

-Even in the last moments of his life he was seen saying; ummathee, ummathee (my ummah, ummah!).

-On the day  of  judgement also he will be worried about us and he will be begging Allah to forgive us!!

What a sincere love and lover!

When the Prophet(swallallahu alaihi wasallam)’s rivals greatly increased their oppression, his Companions asked him to curse them.
At this the Prophet replied,“I have not been sent to lay a curse upon men but to be a blessing to them!’  انما بعثت رحمة

-His opponents continued to treat him and his Companions irrationally and cruelly, but he always he prayed for them. (Hadith narrated by Muslim)

His heart was filled with extreme love for all regardless of caste, faith, or colour …

He advised his Companions to concern all people as their brothers and sisters.

He added, “You are all Adam’s offspring and Adam was born of clay.”

-His mission was to bring people up on the reality that all men and women were each other’s blood brothers.

- The Prophet once said, “A true believer is one with whom others feel safe. One who returns love for hostility.”

-And he also said,

“By Allah, he is not a believer, by Allah, he is not a believer, by Allah, he is not a believer, with whom his neighbours are not safe.”

He also said, “If a believer is not able to help others, he must at least do them no harm.

                                                         Yes,
-His words and actions always matched each other.

It is very easy to bring theory. We know that the self-application is more important.

1-His Manners were formed on the basis of Qur’an.

The Prophet’s whole life went as a perfect example of us.
According to his wife `Ayisha, “He was a characterisation of the Qur’an.”

Experience of Anas ® with Rasulullah as a servant for 10 years:

The Prophet’s own example was affirmed to by Anas ibn Malik, who served the Prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) for ten years.

He said that the Prophet never ever criticised him.

“When I did something, he never questioned my way of doing it; and when I did not do something, he never questioned my failure to do it. He was the most noble of all men.”!!

-Lesson of Tolerance from Rasulullah:

He never trailed revenge for any wrong done to him personally.

It over and over again occurred that when the Prophet would stand to pray, his critics would come near him and disturb him, sometimes they threw dirty things on him.

But the Prophet always determined for the policy of tolerance and avoidance of hostility.

-Ever since the Prophet wanted to avoid war at all costs, he made all efforts to bring peace contract between him and the opponents.

In that case Hudaibiyyah treaty is considered until now very historical.

The opponents went with a number of extremely provoking movements.

They asserted that “the Messenger of Allah” be taken out from prophet's seal and i should be substituted by “son of Abdullah.”

The Prophet recognised their irrational condition and removed the designation by himself.

For the re-establishment of peace in the area!!

The Prophet accepted a number of such unjustifiable articles that were added by the enemy.

Once the Prophet was seated at some place in Madina, along with his Companions.

During this time a funeral parade passed by.

On seeing this, the Prophet stood up.

One of his Companion commented that the funeral was that of a Jew.

The Prophet replied, “Was he not a human being?”

Just as the Prophet did,

We, too, must look at all men as human beings who deserve to be respected at all events.

Even he visited his enemies when they got sick. He always gave care for Children, orphans, poor, widows, needy, beggars…etc.

He always preferred the needs for others over him and his family.

Rasulullah (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) showed his sincere  love to every creation for Allah, animals, birds, ants, plants, all in the nature …etc.

Thus,
He had warned his companions on burning in the way of ants.

He had warned them to hold the bird and to separate it from its mother.

His pity on the camel which was forced to carry heavy weight made him to caution its owner.

He always advised to not cut the trees. But to plant them as much as possible and counted this deed as a great charity work. .

Even He said. If the world is going to end and you are holding a plant in hand, please plant it!!

Once when he had to rush for prayers he found the cat sleeping in his cloth -at the sleeve of his cloth.so he cut the part as he did not like to wake up the cat from its sleep!!

Even we can see him trying to save the scorpion from its fall…
That is love. That is Muhammad (swallallahu alaihi
wasallam)

And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.
We have been ordered to love Rasulullah (swallallahu alaihi wasallam); as we have been instructed to obey him.

It is a love that should control our lives.

Nothing should be dearer After Allah- to our hearts than the Prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam)

This is not simply a duty or deed!!

Allah says in Surah Taubah: 24

Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight . . . are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving hard and striving  in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His Decision (torment). And Allah guides not the people who are faasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient).” [al-Tawbah 9:]

Allah has clearly warned us and explained to us in the above that those who are not loving prophet more than all beloved ones are not among those who are guided.

The prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) Says:

Hazrat Anas (R.A.) states that Rasulullah (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى أكون
 أحب
إليه من والده وولده والناس أجمعين
“None amongst you can be a complete believer if he does not love me more than his parents, children and the entire mankind.” (Bukhari)
