Chorus
‘Ala habibika khairil khalqi kullihimi
Maulaya swalli wasallim da-iman abadan

Upon your Beloved, the best of all creatures (Sayyiduna Muhammad ()
Oh my Master (Allah The Almighty) please send peace and blessings always forever

Thumma sswalatu a’lal mukhtari fil qidami
Al-hamdu lillahi munshi-il khalqi min ‘adami
Then peace be upon Muhammad () - the one who was chosen by Allah prior to all his creation
All praises belong to Allah, who made all creation from nil

(Chapter - 1) On Sincere Love

Mazajta dam‘an jara min muqlatin bidami

Amin tadzakkuri jeeranin bidzee salami
You shed tears from your eyes continuously until it statred to flow in the colour of the blood (referring to the excessive level of weeping and crying in love for Rasulullahi ()
(Imam busiri is placing himself in place of a real lover for Rasuullah ()  and asking himself:  what happened to you? Is it because of remebering your beloved neighbours in  Dhi-salam (a place between makkah mukarramah & Madinah Munawwarah)

Wa aumadhal barqu fi zhalmai min idhami

Am habbati rreehu min tilqaai kazhimatin
And The lightning flashed in darkness from thier side in Idham (a place)
(then your sorrows and memories were open again )
Or is it (your crying) because of the wind which was blown from the side of thier residents in the place - Kazhimah

Wama li qalbika in qulta stafiq yahimi

Fama li ’aynaika in qulta kfufa hamata
And what about your heart? you are telling it to come out of this extreme love but still it is going mad in love
(Imam Busiri (R) speaks in the light of an illusion, i.e. The lover wants to deny and hide   his love)
if you are true in denying your love, what about  your eyes? they are still flowing with tears even you are telling them to stop

Ma baina munsajimin minhu wa mudhtwarimi

A yahsabu sswabbu annal hubba munkatimun
between flowing tears and burning heart
Does the lover think that the love can be  hidden  and covered

Wala ariqta lidzikril bani wal ’alami

Laulal hawa lam turiq dam‘an ‘ala twalali
And you would not have avoided your sleep in remembrance (of their places) in Ban and A’lam (Two places in Arabian Peninsula)
If you were not really a lover, your hot tears would not have fallen over the monuments and remains of the houses of dears.

Bihi ‘alaika ‘uduluddam’i wassaqami

Fakaifa tunkiru hubban ba’da ma shahidat
By two true witnesses of tears and illness on this love against you who wants to deny it
How can you deny this love after witnessing (proving)

Mithlal bahari a’la khaddaika wal ’anami

Wa athbatal wajdu khatwai ‘abratin wadhana
On your cheeks, as like, tear mixed with blood is like an yellow rose (bahar) and the lines fallen on the cheeks due to weekness is like reddish fruite (A’nam)
How do you deny the love when the sadness - made by this love - has created two lines of tears mixed with blood and weakness due to  illness (thus people can see your love)

Wal hubbu ya’ taridhu ladzaathi bil alami

Na ‘am sara twaifu man ahwa fa arraqani

And this is the case of love. it will block (over the lover) the tastes with a kind of pain
(Here the lover (the author) agrees the fact  that he has been caught in love (with Rasulullah () and says:) Yes, you are right, the figure (thoughts) of my beloved  has moved through my body  and this (memory) did not allow me to sleep

Minni ilaika walau answafta lam talumi

Ya la-imi  filhawal ‘udzriyyi ma’dziratan
Me, if you were just (in your comment) you would not have blamed me.
(He replies here to the questioner who had blamed him on his love)

O you who blames me over my pure and extreme love, Excuse
N:B- Al-Hawal U’dhriyy- means true and sincere love and it is ascribed to a tribe which  was well known for their pure love)

’Anil wushati wala da-ei bimunhasimi
’Adatka haliya la sirri bi mustatirin

From the informers, and my sickness / suffering is not going to be cut off (even I get my beloved and could entertain with him)
You have already understood my situation in my love, and my secrets are not hidden any more

Innal muhibba ’anil ’udzali fi swamammi
Mahhadhtaninnusha lakin lastu asma‘uhu
Because surely the lover will not be bothered about those who blame
You have given me sincere advice. but I am not going to listen it

Washshaibu ab‘adu fi nushin anithuhami
Innithahamthu naswiha shshaibi  fi ‘adzali
(Among the all advice) the grey hair is very far from being misunderstood in giving advice
It is true that I always misunderstood the grey hair (old age) in its blaming me on not following the right path
(Chapter - 2) About the Desires of the Self

Min jahliha binadziri shshaibi walharami

Fa inna ammaratii bissui  mata’azhat
From the warning of the grey hair and the old age (of closeness to the death)  because of its ignorence
(I misunderstood the advice of the grey hair / old age in the past, because) Surely My self - which is determined to command with sins - didn’t take advice

dhaifin alamma bira-si ghaira muhthashimi
Wala a‘addat minal fihlil jameeli qira
For this guest (grey hair)  which has appeared on my head and spread shamelessly
And my self (because of its unawareness)  has not prepared any good act in giving a hospitable reception

Katamtu sirran bada li minhu bil katami

Lau kuntu a‘alamu  anni ma uwaqqiruhu
I would have covered this secret (grey hair)  which has been  exhibited to me by dyeing. (then people will not blame me on doing wrong) i.e. I must change in this age
if I had realized that I could not honour this guest (by increasing good deeds and avoiding evil deeds)

Kama yuraddu jimahul khaili billujumi

Manli bi raddi jimahin min ghawayatiha
As like the stubbornness of the horse is prevented with the help of reins
(In this conditon which was mentioned above) Who is there for me to prevent  my self from its going astray

Innatwa’ama yuqawwi shahwatannahimi
Fala tarum bilma‘aaswi kasra shahwatiha
Surely, The (presence of) food will strengthen the desire of the one who has the   habit of excessive eating
After asking this question to himself, the author tells himself  (from the angle of a good adviser) please do not expect that you can break the desires of the ‘self’ with sins,
i.e. please do not think that you could control your self from doing sins while you are  consistent on your sins

Hubbirradha‘i  wa in taftwimhu yanfatwimi
Wannafsu katwifli in tuhmilhu shabba ‘ala
On its love of (feeding mother’s milk)  but if you direct him towards weaning on the appropriate time he will stop it
(if you allow the ‘self’ to continue on doing sins, you will fail to control it, if you try to prevent it from doing sins on the time, it will be no longer consistent on doing sins)
Nafs (Self) is (in its addiction)  like a baby, if you leave him  (on feeding mother’s milk) he will  grow up

Innal hawa maa tawalla yuswmi au yaswimi
Faswrif hawaha wahadzir an tuwalliyahu
Verily desire or inclination of the self, whenever it takes charge (on a person) kills him or spoils his staus

If you have understood it, please work hard to keep your self away from its inclination to be involved in sins and beware of its any authority upon you

Wa in hiya stahlatil mara’a fala tusimi
Wara’iha wahiya fil a’mali saaimatun
If it (your self) is breaking the border, do not allow it to do so
(as like the caretaker watches also whether the cattle go beyond the boundary. if they do so, he will be stopping them)
And observe it while it is involved in actions even it is good  (as like the caretaker of the cattle watches them moving around and eating from a specific area

Min haithu lam yadri anna ssumma fiddasami
Kam hassanat ladzatan lil mari qatilatan
As he did not know there is poison inside the fat he enjoys (beware of your self, it will cheat you, how often it shows the man evils as good things, while the man couldn’t know that there was harm for him in following these things)
(Do not let your self to overpower you, because) How often it has shown the man things as nice and beatuiful, but actually it was leading to the death or loss

Warubba makhmaswatin sharrun mina ttukhami
Wakhsha ddasaaisa min ju’in wamin shiba‘i
Because how often the hunger is seen as much worse than indigestion (filling the stomach) (i.e. None of these two factors  is encouraged or discouraged always. It should be observed wisely.
And fear plots and conspiracies of both the hunger and the satiation (full stomach)
(Beware of the self. It will encourage you to choose  hunger as part of leading an austere life or it may lead you towards eating excessively)

Minal maharimi walzam himyatannadami
Wastafrighiddam‘a min ‘ainin qadimtala-at
Because of doing forbidden things, please repent from the past and follow the diet of remorse and repentance to keep your self away from the sins in the future
And please shed tears until the eyes which are filled with sins get out of tears

Wa in huma mahhadhaka nnuswha fattahimi
Wakhalifinnafsa wa shaitwana wa’swihima
Even they say that they are giving you sincere advice, please understand that they are trying to cheat you and do not trust them (because they are your biggest enemies)
And do not follow your Self  (nafs) and devil (shaitan) but disobey them in every command and prohibition which are given by them

Wa anta ta’rifu kaidal khaswmi walhakami
Wala tutwi’  minhuma khasman wala hakama
Because (People like) you  know about the cheatings of an enemy and partiality of an arbitartor
And do not obey ‘Nafs’ or ‘Shaitan’ even any of them appears to you as an enemy or an arbitrator

Laqad nasabtu bihi  naslan lidzi ’uqumi
Astagfirullaha min qaulin bila ’amalin
(If I invite to a good deed and never practise), it is like I am adding a child to an infertile person (as father)
(Here the author feels that he is not one who follows what he says) I ask Allah forgiveness from saying good things to others without practising them in self

Wamastaqamtu fama qauli lakastaqimi
Amartukal khaira lakin ma-’tamartu bihi
And I didn’t become steadfast in the straight path, then what is the meaning of my saying to you ‘uphold the staright path’ when I am not doing so
I commanded you to do good deeds, but I didn’t practise it

Walam uswalli siwa fardhin walam aswumi
Wala tazawwattu qablal mauti nafilatan
and I did not do any prayer or fasting except the obligatory one. (The author is humbly saying that his good deeds are not much)
and I did not make any preparation for death as much additional to the obligatory acts
(Chapter - 3) On the praise of the prophet ()

Anishtakat qadamaudhurra min warami
zhalamtu sunnata man ahyazhalama ilaa
His feet were swollen and got wounded
(Hadith related to this was reported by Imam Bukhari(R) and Imam Muslim (R) as   related to Ayisha (R)
(Not following in my life) I transgressed the tradition of the prophet (who spent the nights in prayers untill

Thahtal hijararati kashhan mutrafal ‘adami
Wa shadda min saghabin ahshaahu wa twawa
His soft waist under the stone
(to reduce the pain)
And he used to tie around his stomach with cloth due to the pain of hunger and he used to fold

’An nafsihi fa-araha ayyamaa  shamami
Warawadathul jibalushshummu min dzahabi
Out of his way but he didn’t show any interest in accepting it.
(in this state of hunger) high mountains tried to entice him offering him to become gold

Inna dharoorata la ta’adoo  ’alal ’iswami
Wa akkadat zuhdahu fiha dharuratuhu
(No wonder in it) Surely the necessities or poverty cannot attack and win over the  prophet () the one who is protected from all sins ( (معصوم
The greatest proof for his less interest in this world is his refusal for the great wealth which was offered to him, while he was in strong need for it

Laulahu lam tukhrajiddunya minal ’adami
Wakaifa tad’u iladdunya dharuratuman
If he had not been created, the world would have not come into existence
Nb:- In a hadith which is reported by  Umar bin Al-Khattab (R) - on the subject of acceptance of the repentance from Adam (‘Alaihissalam) - when Adam (‘Alaihissalam) asked Allah forgiveness for him  by the status of the prophet (), Allah (SWT) pardoned him and said  to him: If It were not for Muhammad (), I would not have created you (Hakim &Baihaqi)
How his necessities or poverty can invite him  to Dunya (the enjoyment of this world)

Walfariqaini min ’urbin wamin ’ajami
Muhammadun sayyidul kaunaini wathaqalain
And leader of the Aarb and Non Arab
Muhammad () is the leader of all in this world and next world, and leader of men and jinn

---------------------------------------------------
Better than him in forbidding bad and commanding good
Nabiyyunal amirunnahi fala ahadun
-------------------------------------------------------
Our prophet is the one who enjoins good and   forbids bad. Nobody is

Likulli haulim minal ahwali muqtahami
Huwal habibulladzi turja shafa’atuhu
In every bursting horror of the next world
He is the most beloved to Allah, whose intercession (shafa-a) is expected

Mustamsikuna bihablin ghairi munfaswimi

Daa’ ilallahi fal mustamsikuna bihi
they are holding an unbreakable rope
He invited to Allah, whoever holds his path

Walam yudanuhu fi ’ilmin walakarami

Faqannabiyyeena fi khalqin wafi khuluqi
And they couldn’t come closer to him in knowledge and nobility
He succeeded all the prophets in his creation,   and his great manners

Gharfan minal bahri au rashfan minaddiyami
Wakulluhum mirrasulillahi multamisun
a handful from the sea (of his knowledge) or a mouthful from heavy rains (of his perfection)
Every one of the prophets has gained from the knowledge and perfection of the messenger of Allah ()

Min nuqtatil ‘ilmi au min shaklatil hikami
Wa waqifuna ladaihi ‘inda haddihimi
(they have only) like a dot of  his knowledge or just like a symbol of his wisdom
They all stopped in front of him on their limit
thummaswtwafahu habibaban bariunnasami
Fahuwalladzee tamma ma’nahu waswuratuhu
And then the creator of the humankind (Allah) has chosen him as his most beloved
(He is chosen above all the prophets) because he is the one who has reached the perfection physically and spiritually

Fajauharul husni fihi ghairu munqasimi
Munazzahun ’an shareekin fi mahasinihi
Because the jewel of beauty in him is undividable
(Among all creations of Allah) there is no one equal in his pefect and beautiful character

Wahkum bima shi-ta madhan fihi wahtakimi
Da’ madda’thuhunnaswara fi nabiyyihimi
(Pease Keep this in mind) and  then decide how you want to praise him
(Praise the prophet () how you can do, But) do not attribute to him any divine status   as  some  had done with thier prophet Isa (’Alaihissalam)

Wansub ila qadrihi mashi-ta min ‘Izhami

Wansub ila dzatihi maa shi`ta min sharafin
And add to his status whatever you want to add as a greatness
And add to his nature whatever you want  to add as an honour

Fa inna fadhla rasulillahi laisa lahu

Surely, the precedence of the Messenger of Allah (has no any

Ahyasmuhu heena yuda’a darisarrimami

Lau naasabat qadrahu aayatuhu ‘izhaman
if there is among his miracles that when a deceased person - whose body has already become worn bones in an olden grave - is called using (prohet ()’s name he will be brought into the life again. (Still it is not enough to mark his real staus, because his status is above it all)
If his miracles were proportionate to his rank, in greatness

having special care for us so that we have no any doubt or confusion (on what he has brought to us)
He didn’t test us by bringing teachings and rulings of which our minds will be unable to  understand them

Fil qurbi wal bu’di fihi ghairu munfahimi

The prophet () is like the sunSo it stays very far and appears for our eyes

How noble is the prophet () who has been adorned and beautified with great manners

Kazzahri fi tarafin wal badri fi sharafi
And very generous as like the ocean, and very brave and bold as like the mountains
The prophet () was very soft as like the flower, and virtuous as like the full moon

When he is seen alone, because of his reverence and majesty

(Chapter - 4) On the birth of the prophet ()

Ya tweeba mubtadain minhu wa mukhtatami
Abaana mauliduhu ’an tweebi ’unswurihi
What a brilliant beginning and end from him. (The birth of the prophet () was exceptional and his leaving from this world was also excellent in its nature)
His birthday presented many great signs to prove his pure origin and clean root (of  his lineage)

Qad undziroo  bi hululil bu`si wanniqami
Yaumun tafarrasa fihil fursu annahumu
were warned about coming of big  difficulties and tribulations (for them and their country)
It was a day when  persians had realized that surely they

Ka- shamli aswhabi  kisra ghaira multa-imi
Wa bata iiwanu kisra wahuwa munswadi’un
As like the union of  followers / army of Kisra also started to disintegrate showing less chance to be reunited
And Palace of kisra (The ruler of rome) was cracked seriously (on the time of birth of the prophet ()

`Alaihi wannahru sahil ’aini min sadami
Wannaru khamidatul anfasi min asafi
On this happening (after the birth of the prophet ()  and  the rivers of (Persia) were shocked (dried up) due to sorrow
And the fire which was worshipped by the persians was suddenly set down its breath due to sadness

Waruddha waariduha bil ghaizhi hina zhami
Wasa-a saawata an ghadhat buhairatuha
And the people who came there to drink for their thirst were with a great anger
The people of Sawa (a town in persia) were sad to see their lake dried up
Huznan wabil ma-i maabinnari min dharami
Due to sadness and the water here (in the lake in sawa town) is carrying the substence of burning as it is seen normally in the fire
Kaanna binnari maa bil maa-i min balali

As like the fire here (which was worshipped by persians) is carrying substence of making wet as it is seen normally in the water (that is why the fire has been set down)

Wal haqqu yazhharu min ma`nan wamin kalimi

Wal jinnu tahtifu wal anwaaru sati`atun
No wonder, the truth will be always coming out  in facts and news
And Jinn were shouting announcing prophet’s birth and the lights were spreading into  ‘sham’ (‘sham’ includes the ares of  Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon upto the borders of the Saudi Arabi)

Thusm’a wabaariqathul indzari lam thushami

‘Amu waswammu fa i’laanul basha iri lam

were not heard, and thunder clouds of this warning were not seen
They were blind and deaf to these signs, so the announcements of good news

Bi anna dinahumul mu`wajja lam yaqumi
Min ba`di ma akhbaral aqwaama kaahinuhum
That their distorted practice which rejects the truth is not going to survive any more
(These people denied the truth) even after their trustworthy clergy men had informed them

Munqadhatin wafqa maa fil ardhi min swanami
Waba’da maa ’aayanuo  fil ufuqi min shuhubi
falling (from the sky) one after another over devils in accordence to what had happened to the idols on the earth.
(they continued in refusing the message of the prophet (and even after they have seen the shooting stars in the horizon

Minash shayatweeni yaqfu ithra munhazimi
Hatta ghada ’an twareeqil  wahyi munhazimun

from those devils one after another
Untill the defeated ones were running away from the doors of heavens

Aou ’askarun bil haswa min raahataihi rumi

Ka annahum haraban abtwalu abrahatin

Or like the example of big Army  who were hurt by pebbles from the two palms / hands of the prophet ()
they were in their  running away  (from shooting stars) looked like the warriors of king Abraha who had come to demolish Kaa’ba, but they were fully vanished out by Allah sending some birds upon them throwing baked stones as they were trying to run away to escape from the birds.

Nabdzal musabbihi min ahsha-i multaqimi

Nabdzan bihi ba`da tasbeehim bibatwnihima

As like the prophet Yunus (alaihissalam) had thrown himself out the belly of the fish which has swallowed him (when he had run away from his nation)
Nabi () had thrown away these (pebbles) after reciting tasbeeh in his two palms

(Chapter - 5) On the Miracles of the prophet ()

Tamshi ilaihi `ala saaqim bila qadami
Ja`at  lida`watihil ashjaaru saajidatan
Walking to him on (its) stems without having feet (but making a long cut on the earth). Buraidah (radhiyallahu anhu) narrates the incident:- One man came to the   prophet () and wanted from him a miracle to prove his prophethood. Then the prophet () pointed to a tree and told the man to go and tell the tree that he was  calling it (to come to him). Then the man went and told the tree :-‘Messenger of Allah is calling you’. Then the tree strated to move cutting out its roots and walked down to the presence of prophet () making a long cut on the earth, Then the prophet () asked the tree to return and the tree went back to its first place. Seeing this miracle ,the man kissed the prophet () and embraced Islam
On his call the trees came to him, obediently
(it had happened few times)

Furu`uha min badeei’l khattwi fillaqami
Ka-annama satwarat satwran limaa katabat
By its branches in beautiful styles about the perfection of the prophet ()
(When the tree had come to him there was a straight line made on the earth in its passing way) It looks like that it had put this line for writings

Taqeehi harra watweesin lil hajeeri hami
Mithlal ghamaamati annaa saara saairatan
protecting him from the strong heat of the midday
As like the cloud (used to give him shade)  wherever he travelled

Min qalbihi nisbatan mabruratal qasami
Aqsamtu bil qamaril munshaqqi inna lahu
true similarity with the opening of his belly by angels of Allah to  wash it and fill Iman and Hikmah in it (when he was a child under the care of  Halima Saaadiyyah (R) in her tribe.
I swear by the creator of the split moon that surely it has (The incident is mentioned in the Holy Quran in Surah Al-Qamar and Imam Bukhari (R) and Imam Muslim (R) have reported it from abdullahi bnu masuood (radhiyallahu anhu):- When prophet () was going ahead with his mission at Makkah before his hijrah to Madeenah, the people of Makkah asked him to show them a  miracle, then with the permission of Allah the Moon was split  for them.

Wa kullu twarfin minal kuffari ’anhu ’ami
Wamaa hawal gharu min khairin wamin karami
(When the disbelieveres reached in front of the cave searching them) Their eyes were made blind to see him (and his friend)
And it is among the miracles of the prophet () that he and aboobaker sidheeq (radhiyallahu anhu) had entered the cave (thour) and hidden themselves from the rivals (on their way to madeenah during the Hijra)
N:b- Prophet () is mentioned here with the word ‘khair’ which means the best of all and Aboobaker (Radhiyallahu anhu) is mentioned here with the word ‘Karam’ which means the ‘generosity’

Wahum yaqooloona maa bil ghari min arimi
Fasswidqu fil ghari wasswiddheequ lam yarima
And they were saying ‘nobody is there in the cave’
(seeing the spider web and the dove on the face of the cave, they thought that there was nobody in the cave)
(When they searched in the cave)
The Prophet () and Aboobaker (radhiyallahu a’nhu) were there inside the cave, not moved to anywhere.
NB: Prophet () is mentioned here with the word ‘swidq’ which means ‘Truth’ and Abubakr (Radhiyallahu a’nhu) is mentioned here with the word ‘swiddeeq’ which means ‘very truthful’

Khairil bariyyati lam tansuj walam tahumi
zhannul hamaama wa zhannul ’ankabuta ’ala
If the prophet () was inside the cave, (the spider) will not spin the web over the place and (the dove) will not move around the face of the cave

N:B- Prophet () is mentioned here with the word ‘Khairil Bariyyati’ which means ‘the best of all creations’
(Because) they thought that the dove and spider

Minadduru’i wa’an  ‘aalin minal utwumi
Wiqayatullahi aghnat ’an mudhaafatin
Of shields and huge forts (that is the example of those who sought protection from Allah)
The protection given by Allah (through dove and spider) made Muhammad () and Abubakr (radhiyallahu anhu) in no need of multiplied (protection)

Illaa waniltu  jiwaaran minhu lam yudhami

Ma saamaniddahru dhayman wastajartu bihi
Unless I had received an unbreakable security from him  (granted from Allah through his shafa-‘a)
I was never been hurt in times and I had never  asked the prophet () for  protection

Illastalamtunnadaa min khairi mustalami

Walaltamastu ghinaddaaraini min yadihi
Unless I had received it enough from him, the best provider
And I never wished for the wealths of the both worlds from his hands. (I asked Allah by his status or through his intercession)

Qalban idza namatil ’Aynaani lam yanami

La tunkiril wahya min ru`yaahu inna lahu
A heart which never sleeps when eyes are sleeping
(Ayisha (radiyallahu anha) reported that the  prophet () said: my two eyes sleep, but my heart never sleeps (Bukhari & Muslim)
Please do not deny the reality of the ‘Wahy’ (revelation) which he had in his dreams (in the beginning of prophetood, because surely  he has

Falaysa yunkaru feehi halu muhtalimi

wadzaka heena bulughin min nubuvwatihi
receiving the wahy in dreams in this time cannot be denied
His receiving revelation (wahy) from Allah in dream was when he reached forty years old in   starting of his prophethood

Wala nabiyyun ala ghaybin bi mut-thahami

Tabarakallaahu maa wahyum bimuktasabin
And none of the prophets are suspected in their knowledge of unseen (because the prophets are protected from doing sins)
Be Allah consecrated and revered! The revelation from Allah is not earned one (it is a special bounty from Allah)

Wa atwlaqat ariban min ribqatillamami

Kam abra-t waswiban billamsi rahatuhu
And how often he saved the helpless from the capture of insanity
N:b- For example, please refer to Dalailunnubuwwah for Imam Baihaqi (R)  and kitabusshifa for Qadi Iyadh (R) to see how an insane boy - who was brought to Rasulullah () by his mother - was cured)
How often his blessed hand touched the ill and on the spot he was granted shifa (cure).
(few occurrences are reported in the books of Sunnah)

Hat-taa hakat ghurrathan fil a’asuridduhumi

Wa ahyatissanata sshahba-a  da`watuhu
As like this fruitful year resembles among the black years of drought as like the white spot in the forehead of the horse
(And among the miracles of the prophet ()) his supplication made the barren year into fertile one (bringing sufficient raining and fruitful land)
(Imam Bukhari & Muslim have reported that a man came to the prophet () on Friday while he was delivering khutba and said: sheeps are going to die, Please do dua for rainig. Then the prophet () made a dua’, suddenly it started to rain heavily for one week until following Friday. Then the man or sombody else complained: Oh, Messenger of Allah (), houses are going to fall, please make dua to Allah to stop. then the prophet () smiled and on his dua’ rain was stopped)

Bi `aaridhin jaada au khiltal bitwaaha bihaa
a big flow from the sea or the historical flood of ‘Sailul ‘Arim’ (which had destroyed all the dams creating a big disaster to the nation) has come back again
(His dua made this dry year into a fertile one) with a cloud which had brought abundant raining untill you may think that this grand Valley was conquered by

(Chapter - 6) On the status of the Holy Qur’an

dzuhura naril qira laylan `alaa  `alami

Da‘nee wawasfiya aayatin lahu zhaharat
Like the appearance of the fire burnt on top of mountains to guide the guests into their destinations at night.
let me explain some of his signs and  miracles which prove his prophethood, which appeared

Walaysa yanqusu qadran ghaira muntadzimi
Faddurru yazdadu husnan wahuwa muntadzimun
Even though the pearl does not decrease in its value when it is not set so.
(Similarly the miracles and signs of the prophet () do not decrease in its beauty when it is not compiled)
The pearl gets more beauty when it is set in a chain (similarly, my compiling of all these miracles in this poem, increases its beauty)

Maa feehi min karamil akhlaaqi washshiyami

Famaa tatwaawulu aamaalil madeehi ilaa
To accumulate the numerous great manners of the prophet () (i.e. it is very difficult task)
How dare! the hopes are kept  in this praising   poem

Qadimatun swifatul mauswufi bil qidami
Aayaatu haqqim minarrahmani muhdasatun
And these (verses of Quran) are eternal because Allah has revealed it and He is eternal (in His Dhat and Swifat)
Among his miracles are these true verses (Al-Quran) which was revealed upon him from Allah the most merciful

`Anil ma‘adi wa `an `aadin wa`an irami

Lam taqtarimbi zamanin wahiya tukhbiruna
About the next world (resurrection, paradise and the hellfire etc.) and also (Al-Qur’an) is telling us about stories of the earlier societies like the stories of Tribes of A’ad, and Iram
N:b- Nabi Hud (‘alaihissalam) was sent to the tribe of ‘Aad
Verses of Allah (Quran) is not constricted (to tell us) about any certain time, but it tells us

Minannabiyyeena idz  ja`t walam tadumi
Daamat ladainaa fafaaqat kulla mu`jizatin
Of the all other prophets because their miracles came but couldn’t remain forever
These Quranic Verses will remain to guide the people forever. So, these Quranic Verses are superior to all miracles

Lidzi shiqaaqin wamaa yabgheena min hakami

Muhakkamaatun famaa yubqeena min shubahi
For any stubborn who wants to argue with  nor they require any judge to declare its perfection
These Quranic verses are solid and very clear  in meaning, structure and literature. so, these verses neither leave any doubts

A`dal a`aadi ilayhaa mulqiyassalami
Maa huribat qatu illaa `aada min harabi
Its biggest opponents surrendering to it
these verses (Al-Qur’an) were not opposed unless (they) turned back from this opposing

Raddal ghayuri yadal jaani ’anil hurami
Raddat balaaghatuha da`waa mu`aridhiha
As like a person who is ardent and passionate for his family will prevent the hand of the criminal out of his beloved one
Its eloquence (skilful use of expressive  language) responded to the argument of its opponent that they could bring a similar one)

Wafauqa jauharihi filhusni wal qiyami
Laha ma`aanin ka maujil bahri fi madadi
And in the beauty and the value they (Verses of  Al-Qur’an ) are above Jewels  of the sea
These verses of Al-Qur’an have many meanings as like the tides of the sea in supporting each other

Walaa tusamu `alal ikthaari bissa ami
Famaa tu `addu walaa tuhswa `ajaaibuha
It will not create boredom even it is recited many times (or its meaning is learnt many times)
The wonderful meanings of these verses cannot be counted and evaluated

Laqad  zhafirta bihablillaahi fa`taswimi
Qarrat bihaa `aynu qaariha faqultu lahu
Then I told him, you have won, please hold this rope of Allah (Al-Quran)
The eyes of its reader were delighted and cool

Atw fa`ta harra lazha min virdiha sh shabimi
In tatluhaa kheefatan min harri nari lazha
Then you can extinguish the heat of the hellfire with its cool water
If you read these verses (Al- Quran) in fear of the heat of the jahannam (hellfire)

Minal uswathi waqad jau`hu kal humami
Ka annahal haudhu tabyadhulul wujuhu bihi
(The faces) of sinful people, when they   had come (or thrown) to bath in it (Nahrul   Hayat) in the forms of black coals
(Al-Qur’an will intercede for its readers until their faces will become white and eventually they will enter the pardise) As like the faces of the sinful believers will become white when they take bath in ‘Nahrul Hayat’ (river of life) before entering the paradise

Falqistu min ghairiha finnaasi lam yaqumi
Wakasswirati wakal meezaani ma`dilatan
The justice can not exist among the people leaving Al-Qur’an away
These verses of Allah are signs of the truth, no doubt in it, and they are straight as like the bridge of Swirat and full of justice as like theskyle on the day of judgement

Tajaahulan wahuwa ’aynul haadziqil fahimi
La ta`jaban lihasuudin raaha yunkiruhaa
Pretending that he doesn’t know (about its miraculous power and status), Actually he is intelligent and he can understand it (but his jealousy made him deny it)
Do not be wondered about the jealous people who denies these verses

Wayunkirul famu twa`mal maa-i min saqami
Qad tunkirul `aynu dhauash-shamsi min ramadi
And the mouth denies the real taste of the water because of sickness in the mouth (and it may find it bitter, not because of any problem with the water)
(As like) sometimes the eye denies the light of sun because of red eye. (Not because of any problem with sunlight)

(Chapter - 7) On the Isra’- Mi’raj

Sa`yan wa fauqa mutuunil ’aynuqirrusumi

Yaakhaira man yammamal `aafuuna sahatahu
Walking and riding over the strong and weighty camels
O, you the most noble towards whose yard the  seekers of bounties had headed

Waman huwanni`matul ` udzma li mugh-tanimi

Waman huwal aayatul kubraa limu`tabirin
And O you who is the greatest blessing for the one who desires to win the endless  success
And O you who is the greatest sign for the one who is thinking about Allah’s prudence and wisdom

Kamaa saral badru fi dajin minadzulami

Sarayta min haramin laylan ila harami
As like the full moon moves on the full dark night
(Oh, the Messenger of Allah (), (During Isra’ and Mi’raj) you travelled from Al-Masjidul Haram to Al-Masjidul Al-Aqsa at night

Minqaabi qausaini lam thudrak walam thurami

Wabit-tha tharqaa ilaa anniltha manzilathan
In a distance of two cubits in closeness which was not attained by anybody else nor wished (by them)
And you went riding through heavens until you reached a position

Warrusuli taqdeema makhdoomin `alaa khadami

Waqad-damatka jameeu’l ambiyaei biha
And all messengers as like the master is put in front of his servants
And on the night, all the prophets put you in front of them

Fi maukibin kunta fihi swahibal `alami

Wa anta takhtariqussab`a twibaaqabihim
In a grand parade of which you were the holder of the flag. (i.e. leader)
When you were crossing over with them the seven heavens from one heaven to another one

Minaddunuwwi wala marqan limustanimi

Hat-taa idza lam tada’  sha-’wan li mustabiqi
In closeness to Allah and you have not left any position for its seekers
Until you didn’t leave any goal for anyone who wants to race for it

Nuodeeta birrafe’  mithlal mufradil a’lami

Khafadzta kulla maqaamin bil idhafati idz
When Allah ta’ala invited you to meet him and called upon you into his holy presence taking your name, as like (in Arabic Grammer) Al-mufradul  A’lam (Singular proper noun) which has i’rab of Raf’ among all other types of ’Munada’
(When you reached such a high position) all other positions became under your position

‘Anil ‘uyooni wa sirrin ayyi muktatami

Kaimaa tafooza biwaswlin ayyi mustatirin
from all eyes, and a shielded secret from Allah (subhanahu wa T’aala)
(O The messenger of Allah, Allah has granted you miracle of  isra mi’raj)  thus you have won very special connection which is hidden

Wa juzta kulla  maqaamin  ghaira muzdahamin

Fa huzta kulla fakhaarin ghaira mushtarakin
And you have crossed all the positions without chasing anybody in your way (all your positions are reserved to you only)
Thus, you have accumulated all status not shared with others

Wa jalla miqdaaru ma wulleeta min rutabi
And it is very difficult (impossible for others) to attain the favours which are given to you
What an excellent amount of positions are granted to you

With the title of ‘the Noblest of the messengers, (by accepting his invitation to obey Allah) we became the noblest of all the communities
When Allah called (our prophet () the one who had invited us towards Allah’s obedience

Chapter  -8

On the steadfastness of the prophet (and his companions during struggles

Ka nab-atin ajfalat ghaflan minal ghanami
Ra-’at qhulubal ’ida Anba-u bi-’thatihi
As like a medium sound frightens a bunch of goats wandering in the field
The news of his prophethood and its spreading frightened the hearts of the opponents

Hat-ta hakau bil qanaa lahman `alaa wadhami
Mazala yalqaahumu fi kulli mu`-tarakin
Until they were looked upon the spears like meat on a chopping block
(This is a poetic expression which must   be read in its sense)

He had been facing them in every battle field  (bravely)
----
(N:B-The opponents started to torture him and his companions and even after leaving his homeland Makkah (migrating to Madinah) they didn’t stop thier attacks.
Then the prophet ( and his companions had no way except to defend their nation.
And We need to note that these Battles had witnessed very less losses for both parties.
Becuase in any case killing was not the intention of battles.

Ashla-a shaalat ma-a’l ‘Iqbani warrakhami
Waddul firaara fakadu yaghbituna bihi
To the pieces of the meat which were seen carried away by eagles and the vulture
(flying away of the hearts in fear is demonstrated here)
(When the opponents saw that they are going to be defeated) They wanted to run way (from the field) (The poet feels them in his imagination) as they were in this condition (of fear and drive to run away) looking like they are jealous

Maa lam takun min layalil ash huril hurumi
Thamdhiillayaali walaa yadruna ‘iddataha
Except the nights of (four) sacred months (Muhaaram, Rajab, Dhulqa’dah and Dhulhijjah- in which any fighting was not undertaken by any group in Arabia)
The Nights were passing but they did not know how many nights have gone (Even they started the fighting and they were big in numbers, they were seen very frightened during encounters)

Bi kulli qarmin ila lahmil `ida qarimi
Ka-annamadheenu dhayfun halla saahathahum
accompanied with brave followers who are very enthusiastic to face the attacks of the opponents
As like this religion was a guest came to their yard

Yarmi bi maujin minal abtwali mul tathwimi
Yajurru bahra khamisin fauqa saabihatin
Its tides are the brave warriors who are heading to the battle fields one after another
The army of the believers went ahead on fast running horses (as like a roaring sea)

Yastwu bi musta-’swilin lil kufri mustwalimi

Min kulli muntadibin lillahi muhtasibin
And who were fighting with their swords putting an end for the aggressions of the disbelievers
Those who answered the call of Allah expecting their rewards from Him only

Min ba‘di ghurbatihaa mausulatar rahimi
Hat-taa ghadat millatul islami wa hiya bihim
protected and strong in relation amongst  thousands of its followers after a period of desolation
Thus, with these (sincere followers) the religion of Islam became

Wa khairi ba’alin falam taitam walam ta-imi

Makfulatan abadan minhum bikhairi abin
and as like a best husband, now it is no  more an orphan or a widow (i.e. now it is no more isolated)
with Swahaba (companions of the prophet) Islam became safe, they were like a best father (in looking after it)

Madhaa ra aa minhumu
fi kulli mustwadami
Humul jibaalu fasal anhum muswaadimahum
What he had seen from them in each encounter
They were very strong people like mountains (in power and patience). If you are in doubt please ask the one who had fought with them

Fuswoola hatfin lahum adha minal wakhami

Wasal hunainan  wasal badran wasal uhuda
The times in which they were more grievous in fear of death than the (the time of) plague disease
Please ask (about the bravery of these people) Hunain, Badr and Uhud (the places where they had confronted their opponents)

Minal `ida kulla muswaddin minallimami

Al musdirilbeedhi  humran ba`da maa waradat
Over heads of their opponents

Praise these warriors, if they come with white swords into the battle ground, they will not return until these swords are illuminated with the blood (poetic expression of a war) after falling

Aqlaamuhum harfa jismin ghaira muna’-jimi
Wal kaatibeena bisumril khat-twi maa tarakat
The blades of their spears, any place on the bodies (of the opponents) as it is not marked with them.
(it is a poetic expression of a battle scenario and bravery of the warriors)
And praise these who fought with the most distinguished spears, and did not leave
-
N: b- (سمر الخط- is the most famous spears in the ancient Arab. They are also called as الرماح الخطية

Walwardu yamtaazu bissimaa ‘anissalami
Shakissilaahi lahum sima tumayyizuhum
the rose is identified with its special sign of nice smell from a thorny tree
These companions are wearing super weapons as like their rivals. But they have some signs which separate them from the rivals. (It is the sign of sujood seen on their forehead)

Fa tahsabuzzahra fil akmaami kulla kami
Tuhdi ilaika riyahunnaswri nashrahumu
As all these warriors are felt to you as like the flowers inside the sleeves
(as the breeze brings the good smells of the flowers which are found on its path of blowing)
The wind of the victory brings to you the gift of the good news for the warriors who return with red cloths (from the field after winning the struggle)

Min shiddatil hazmi laa min shaddatil huzumi

Ka annahum fi zhuhooril khaili nabtu ruba
Their firmness on the back of horses was because of their steadfastness in their determination, not because of tying them with saddles (on the back of horses)
When they are on the back of their horses, they look like the plants on the hills
(Poet says that their style of moving into two sides of horses while they were defending the attacks sitting over them firmly,
Looks like the plants on the top of hills, which may move with winds but they are firm on their roots)

Fama tufarriqu bainal bahmi wal buhami

Twarat quloobul `ida min ba`sihim faraqa
Until they (opponents) were not able to differentiate who are the lambs and who are the brave warriors (because of their confusion due to extreme horror)
The hearts of all the opponents flew up due to fear (they were very frightened) seeing the strength of prophet’s () companions

In talqahul usdu fi aajaamihaa tajimi
Waman takun birasulillahi nusratuhu
Because Even the lions meet him in their dwellings inside the jungle, they will be getting calm seeing his reverence
Whoever is helped with the blessings and prayers from the prophet () will not get any harm

Bihi walaa min ’aduwwin ghairi munqaswimi

Walan tara min waliyyin ghairi muntaswirin
By his status and you will never see anyone who is treating him as enemy unless he is not defeated
You will never see anyone who loves and follows him unless he is victorious

Kallaithi halla ma`al ashbali fi ajami
Ahalla ummatahu fi hirzi millatihi
As like the lion (when the hunting is feared) runs away with its children into the jungle
He saved his Ummah (followers) bringing them into a safe place (religion of Islam)

Feehi wakam khaswamal burhaanu min khaswimi

Kam jaddalat kalimaatullahi min jadilin
About him (and his prophethood) and How many clear evidences were brought to break the false advocations of the opponents
How many times the verses of Quran had beaten the arguments of the quarrelers

Filjaahiliyyati wa tta-deebi filyutumi

Kafaaka bil ’ilmi fil ummiyyi mu‘jizatan
and it is enough for you as miracle his highest rank in the best manners even he was an orphan who had no chance to learn from the father or mother in that dark age.
It is enough for you as his miracle his knowledge even he was not someone who had learnt the writing and reading.
N:b- The prophet () is the most knowledgeable person

(Chapter - 9) Hope in the shafaa’ (intercession) of the prophet ()

Dhunuoba ‘umrin madha fi shi`-ri wal khidami

Khadamtuhu bimadeehin astaqeelu bihi
Sins of my past life which was spent in the poetry and serving some poeople  (referring to his job as the poet of the palace in his early life)
I praised the prophet () with this poem expecting that Allah would forgive me

Ka annani bihima hadyun minanna’ami

Idz  qalladaaniya maa tukhsha ’awaaqibuhu
As like I am  a sacrificial animal with special tags of identification on their necks which will be brought into the place of slaughtering very soon)
The poetry and the serving some people   have hanged on my neck many sins which  carry very horrible consequences

Haswaltu illaa ’alal aathaami wannadami

Atwa-tu ghayyas swiba filhaalataini wa maa
( I didn’t) get except many sins and regret
while I was occupied with the poerty and serving some people, I followed the desires of my youth and (at last) I didn’t

Lam tashtariddeena biddunya walam tasumi

Fayaa khasaarata nafsin fee tijaratihaa

It did not buy the religion by (sacrificing the desiers of) this world and also it didn’t take any initiative for that purpose
O the failure of (my) self in its business

Yabin lahul ghabnu fi bai‘in wafi salami
Waman yabi’a ajilan minhu bi ajilihi
later he will be finding a big loss in this sale and business
Whoever sells the everlasting next world (Akhira) for this current world (dunya)

Minannabiyyi wala habli bi munswarimi
In aati dzanban fama ’ahdi bi muntaqidhi
(agreement) with  the prophet (), and my rope which connects me to him, is not going to be cut
Even I do sins (I hope that Allah will forgive me) because, my agreement (with the prophet () will never become inavlid
(The Poet Imam Busiri (R) may be referring  to his unbreakable connection with prophet () as his follower, lover and bearer of his name ’Muhammad’

Muhammadan wahuwa aufal khalqi bidhimami

Fa inna  lee dhimmatan minhu bitasmiyatee
as ‘Muhammad’ because he (Muhammad ()  is the most honest in keeping  promises among all the creations of Allah
-
The poet may be referring to the hadith reported by Abu umamah (R) ‘whoever gets a child and he names him as ‘Muhammad’ seeking the barakat of the name of the prophet muhammad (), he and his son will be in the paradise
(why I expect that Allah will forgive me) because I have security from him in my  naming

Fadhlan wa illa faqul ya zallatal qadami

In lam yakun fee ma‘adhee aakhidhan biyadee
as a bounty from him, and if I am not  getting his intercession then please say: surely my feet will slip on the day (then what a bad situation it will be for me)
if he (the prophet () is not holding my hand in the next world, making  shafa-a’  (intercession) for me to Allah

Au yarji`al jaaru minhu ghaira muhtaramin

Haashaahu an yahrimarraji makaarimahu
And nor the one who went to his great presence seeking his closeness and shafaa’, will return as not honoured (with the gift of his needs)
It will never happen that the one who expects his noble deeds ,would be denied of them,

Wajattuhu likhalaswii khaira multazami
Wa mundzu alzamtu afkaari madaa-ihahu
I have found it as the best thing to hold for my safety (from all problems)
(It is my proof) Since I devoted my thoughts in praising him

Innal haya yunbitul azhaara fil akami

Wa lan yafuotal ghina minhu yadan taribat
(How they never get?) prophet () is like raining, when it falls on the earth, it reaches all kinds of the places, fertile and infertile and it will be producing the flowers even on the top of hills where normally flowers never grow
Those who seek his blessings and barakats  from him may be poor or sinful people, still they will get his blessings

Yadaa zuhairin bima athna ala harimin
Wa lam urid zahrata ddunyallatiqtatwafat
the hands of Zuhairubnu Abee Salma praising Harim ibnu Sinan
(but I need only the love and blessings from Allah and his Messenger () especially the ‘shafaa’ (intercession) of the prophet () on the day of judgement)
And I did not want (with this praising of the prophet ()) the flower or the beauty of this world (the wordly benefits) which were picked up by

(Chapter - 10) In the presence of the prophet ()

Siwaaka ‘inda huloolil hadithil ‘amami
Yaa akramal khalqi maalie man aluodzu bihi
Except you when the biggest danger will descend upon the people
Oh, the noblest of all creations, I don’t have anybody (on the day of judgement) to approach for help (shafa-a’)

Idhal kareemu tahallaa bismi muntaqimi

Walan yadheeqa rasulallahi jaahuka bihi
(At the time of horror on the day of judgement) when Allah the most generous will be characterized with the name of ‘revenger’
And O, the Messenger of Allah, my case will not be a big thing in front of your big status. (because your status is powerful to make intercession for all the sinners among the believers)

Wa min ‘uluomika ‘ilmallauhi walqalami
Fainna min juodika ddunya wa dharrataha
And many of the hidden knowledges recorded in the Lauhul Mahfooz with Al-Qalam has been revealed to your knowledge by Allah (SWT)
surely this world and the next world are from  your benevolence (This world never existed without you and in the next world you are the saviour of all by your shafa-a’)

Nb:- In a hadith which is reported by Umar bin Al-Khattab (R) - on the subject of acceptance of the repentance from Adam (‘Alaihissalam) - when Adam (‘Alaihissalam) asked Allah forgiveness for him by the status of the prophet (), Allah (SWT) pardoned him and said to him: If It were not for Muhammad (), I would not have created you (Hakim & Baihaqi)

Innal kabaaira fil ghufrani kallamami

Yaa nafsi laa taqnatwii min zallatin adzumat
Verily major sins in front of Allah’s forgivness is just like minor sins (If Allah wills he will forgive all sins except the -associating partners with Allah)
Now the poet is talking to himself 'do not be disappointed from the mercy of Allah because of your large amount of sins

Ta-’tii ’alaa hasabil ’iswyani filqisami
La’alla rahmata rabbee heena yaqsimuha
It would be coming on account of the sins for each in division
I hope that when Allah distributes His mercy

Ladaika waj’al hisabi ghaira munkharimi

Yaa rabbi waj’al rajaie ghaira mun’akisi
with you and make my evaluation perfect in results. (or it means please make my hope in your mercy realized)
O my Lord Allah,  please make my hope (in your mercy and forgiveness) not reversed but realized

Swabran mata tad-’uhul ahwalu yanhazimi
Waltwuf bi’abdika  fiddaaraini inna lahu
a patience, which will run away when the horrors come
and be kind to your servant in both worlds because verily he has

’Alannabiyyi bimunhallin wamunsajimi
Wa-’dzhan lisuhbi swalaatin minka daaimatin
to be showered abundantly on the prophet ()
And Oh Allah, let your bessings to be always
(Allah’s blessings upon the prophet () is exemplified with the clouds which showers rain on the earth)

Wa atwrabal `iesa haadil ’iesi binnaghami
Maa rannahat `adzabaatil baani reehu swaban
As long as camel rider gives great entertainment to the camel with his good tunes
(The camel is one of the basic elements  of the arabian culture)
(Oh Alah please send the blessings upon the prophet )
As long as the pleasant wind from the east shakes the branches of ben oil tree
(this wind from the east and the ben tree was familiar among the Arabs)

Ahlittuqa wannaqa walhilmi walkarami
Wal aali wasswahbi thuummattaabi’eena lahum
The people of piety, purity, patience and generosity
And upon his family, companions and all those who followed the companions

Wa `an ’aliyyin wa `an ’uthmana dhil karami
thuummarridha ‘an abi bakrin wa ‘an ‘umari
And Usman (R), Ali (R) who were very noble
Then, O Allah, be pleased with abubakr (R), umar (R)

’Ubaidatin wabni ’aufin ’aashiril karami
Sa-’din sa’iedin zubairin twalhatin wa-abi
Abu Ubaidatu bnul Jarrah (R), Abdu rrahmanu bnu awaf (R)
(These are the : Al-Asharatul Mubasharah:- in a  special announcement the prophet () had declared them as the people of paradise )
And (be pleased) with  Saa’d  bnu abee wqas, Saeed bnu zaid, Zubairubnul ‘awwam, Twalhatu bun ubaidillah

Yarabbi bil mustwafa balligh  maqaaswidana
And forgive all our past sins, O The most Generous
O my lord Allah, by the satus of the prophet muhammad () fulfil all our intentions
