Unity and Brotherhood Among Muslims ( Ummah)

Unity Of ‘Ummah’
Since when drops of water gather
then they form a (powerful) river.
Nothing comes about from a drop (individual),
However the river (unity) runs strong.

A fish can never be seen,
In one single drop of water.
How is it then from the river
Whales can come about?
(Translation of a Persian poetry).

                                                                   Ummatan Waswatan
Allah says in Qur'an:
وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطاً
Thus We have made you (true Muslims (a just (and the best) nation…
[Al-Baqarah 2:143]
Islam stands for justice, peace, respect, and good conducts. Not only human beings but also all creations of Allah deserve them.Everybdoy got their own rights. Especially pride for each one is sacred as well as his wealth and body. As Muslims we cannot miss these values in our life. Our differences with others cannot make us to do injustice to them or to hurt them. Love and Mercy are universal factors.
Quran and Hadith have explained how we need to behave. No insulting In the name of Da’wa ..No backbiting...No humiliation in the name of Daa’wa.We must live as beacons of love and affection. We must wish always good for all.
Please see how Quran is teaching us to behave with the opponents of Islam.
Then how with the believers?
‘And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness’ and also He says.(Quran 5:8)
“And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress’’.( Then  Allah tells us to co-operate for good things)
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression…”)5:2)
Allama Iqbal on Muslim Unity:

Allama Muhammad Iqbal (1877 –1938) was the most famous Urdu poet of the whole time, and great philosopher, the most accomplished thinker and reformer of the modern Muslim world, who always emphasized On the good relationship between different sects of Muslim society.

He says;
Manf-e-at ek hai is qaum ki nuqsaan bhi ek
ek hi sab ka nabi deen bhi iman bhi ek
harame paak bhi Allah bhi Quran bhi ek
kuchh bari baat thi hote jo Musalman bhi ek«

"There is one common gain and one common loss for all Muslims.
One Prophet () for all and one Iman for all. One Ka’aba, one Allah and one Qur’an for all.
How great it would be if Muslims also were one?’’

What he means; we are one Ummah,in matters affecting whole Ummah our voice must be one. Throughout history we can see forces who wanted to see this Ummah fighting each other.
Yehi maqsood e fitrat, yehi ramz e musalmani
Ukhuwat ki jahangiri, mohabbat ki farawani

This is the destiny of nature; this is the symbol of Islam—
 World
wide brotherhood, an abundance of love.

"Wo mu’azzaz they zamane mein Musalman hokar
aur ab ham khwar huey tarike Quran hokar"

"They had dignity and power in the world because they were real Muslims. And we are suffering humiliation and defeat because we have left the Qur’an.

"Khud badalte naheen Quran ko badal dete hain
huwey kis darja faqeehane haram be taufiq"

"These people do not want to change themselves but they change the Qur’an (by wrong interpretations).
How unfortunate are those who are preaching in the name of Islam.

Ganwa Di Hum Ne Jo Aslaf Se Meeras Payi Thi
Surreya Se Zameen Par Asman Ne Hum Ko De Mara

We have spoiled the inheritance that we from our fathers won.
The heaven from the zenith has thrown us down.
Qur’an about the need of unity of Ummah:
Allah says:
Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord: therefore worship Me (and no other). (surah Anbiya :92)

Allah (SWT) makes it clear in Noble Qur'an that unity of the Muslim Ummah is very important.

Allah (SWT) tells us not to be divided and to hold tightly to the teachings of Noble Qur'an and the example of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

 "
And hold fast, All of you together, to the rope of Allah, and do not become disunited "(Al-i Imran 3:103)

And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere:
The prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam) commanded us to be united, and taught us what to do and not to do in behaving in Ummah.

"Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales. Do not look for other's faults.

Do not spy one another. Do not be jealous of one another and do not keep enmity against one another. Do not turn faces from one another. Become the slaves of Allah, and be brothers to one another as Allah commanded.

A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He should neither oppress him nor humiliate him. The piety is here! The piety is here!"

While saying so he pointed towards his chest.

"It is enough evil for a Muslim to look down upon his Muslim brother. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in Faith: his blood, his wealth and his honour. Verily, Allah does not look to your bodies nor to your faces but He looks to your hearts and your deeds."
[Muslim].
Prophet () also says:

Surely the believers – in relation to the mercy and compassion and affection (that they show for one another) - are the same as one body.

Therefore, if one part of the body is feeling pain, then it complains about this pain to the other parts of the body through a fear and hurt
(so that the body can help the hurt or injured part).

The Hand of Allah is with the Congregation’

One day, Prophet ()
stood up in the Masjid, turned towards the Muslims and said

“(O’ people!) Stand up so that I can make you brothers of one another (in the name of Allah.
Upon hearing this, the Muslims stood up and each one was made a brother of another one whom they had a great deal of love and affection.

Prophet () says:
“Do not consider any of the Muslims as being insignificant, since in the eyes of Allah (that person whom you consider as being insignificant) actually has a high rank.
Please remember our great past:
Under the greatness of Model Islamic Ummah, the Muslims were victorious over all of their difficulties and as long as this religious bond of love and affinity was amongst them, they had supremacy over the entire world.

Muslims should understand that unity is what will make us move forward in this world as well hereafter.
Today the Muslim Ummah is behind in everything, Education, technology, trade and most importantly our faith.
Remember the era when the Muslims were united and held on to Allah's rope tightly?
The Islamic empire spread from the east to west and Allah (SWT) blessed them with wealth, fame, victory and honour.
For a glorious future:
We need to be united now more than ever before.
We have to think about what we will and we can do to make our lives in this world and
the hereafter better and blessed.
Five time congregational prayers, Friday prayer, Ied prayers and Hajj all are giving lessons of Islamic unity and brotherhood. We must think over.
In his last speech Prophet () had advised his Ummah ‘do not fight after me’
Conclusion:
we wish good for all. We will advise each other to build a great Society.
‘(Essence of) Religion of Islam  is  to give sincere advice’)Hadith)

You are the best nation raised up for humankind: you enjoin good and forbid evil and you believe in Allah(Alu Imran-110)
